The Practice: Gratitude… for you

In the end, just three things matter: how well we have lived, how well we have loved, how well we have learned to let go.
— Jack Kornfield

I want to thank you and express my gratitude for your participation and presence over the last 15 days. Hopefully together we have created some meaning…. and momentum of presence and heart to see our lives more clearly, to recognize the goodness within and all around us, while deepening trust in our capacity for the natural unfolding of life. May our time together point us towards well-being, ease, and non-harm.

I wanted to send you off with a poem by Portia Nelson that speaks to the potential of the practice….

Autobiography in Five Short Chapters

I.

I walk down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I fall in. I am lost. I am helpless. It isn't my fault. It takes forever to find a way out.

II.

I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I still don't see it. I fall in again. I can't believe I am in the same place. It isn't my fault. It still takes a long time to get out.

III.

I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I see it there, I still fall in. It's habit. It's my fault. I know where I am. I get out immediately.

IV.

I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I walk around it.

V.

I walk down a different street

The true material of knowledge is meaning.
